1. ESA Research Grants Programme
The research grants are intended to promote anaesthesia–related research in Europe, and to encourage anaesthesiologists to extend the frontiers of their practice or understanding.
Priority will be given to topics that have no alternative sources of funding.
Applications are sought for the following:- Project grants of up to € 60,000 each, to support work of up to two years duration.
- Research support grants for amounts up to € 15,000 to assist work in progress or pilot studies.
There will be selected under the 2009 programme:
- Three grants of up to €15,000 each
- Four grants of up to €60,000 each (exceptionally, for 2009 programme only)
Applications are invited for the following fields:
- Clinical research.
- Experimental research.
- Patient safety.
These grants will be awarded to start on or after 1 January 2009.

click here >>2. ESA Fellowship Programme
The ESA Fellowship Programme aims to select the best trainees and allow them to visit, for a period of 3 months training, the best training centres that Europe can offer.
Criteria have been established to allow us to identify the best and most promising trainees, and the centres which can offer the best of teaching and experience in Europe: with grants sufficient to cover living expenses and learning in these centres, the ESA seeks to
mix together the two ingredients, for the primary benefit of the trainees.
The programme allows for six fellowships of up to € 10,000 each to be awarded in 2009, to cover travel, living expenses and accommodation, each for 3 months.
Applications must be received no later than 15 September 2008.
Applications from already awarded fellows will not be considered.

3. ESA Young Teachers Grant
The European Society of Anaesthesiology, through the ESA National/ NASC awards 10 travel grants for young lecturers from Eastern Europe to attend Euroanaesthesia meetings.
Applications must be received no later than 15 September 2008.
