Vitor Paixao Dias was born in 1960 in Portuguese. He has got the degree from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto in 1985. He was acquitted of the title of specialist in Internal Medicine on July 11, 1994, with a classification of 19.4/20 points. He has been postgraduated in Occupational Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine of the Univer- sity of Porto on February 18, 2003, with a final classification of 15/20 points, and became the Specialist in Clinical Hypertension by the European Society of Hypertension since February 2008. His work experience started in 1986 as a general resident in Hospital de S Joao. But later he moved to Vila Nova in Centro Hospi- talar de Vila Nova de Gaia/Espinho as a resident and as an assistant and later he became the same hospital resident trainer till 2010.
As a resident trainer, he was directly responsible for the training of General Interns / Common Year and several Complementary Interns / Specific Training in Internal Medicine and other medical specialties in interning at the Internal Medicine Service (namely Cardiology, Pulmonology and Nephrology). At this time, he became the director of the Department of Internal Medicine – Centro Hospitalar de Vila Nova de Gaia/Espinho, E.P.E up to date.
He is a Member of the Portuguese Society of Internal Medicine, he was the president of the Portuguese Hypertension Society for the 2019-2021 biennium, and he is a member of the European Society of Hypertension. He is working currently as a coordinator in the Hypertension Excellence Centre of the European Society of HypertensionHe has graduated students of the Doctoral Program in Health Sciences and Technologies at the University of Aveiro since 2013, and he became a coordinator of the 6th year Medicine course at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Beira Interior, while in the meantime he was voluntary professor of the 6th year Internal Medicine discipline at the Faculty of Medicine of Porto and since 2019 he is the coordinator of the same discipline.
He is an Editor of the Hypertension Highlights section of the indexed magazine International Journal of Cardiol- ogy Hypertension since 2018, and among other memberships he is a member of the Internal Medicine team at Clínica Lusía- das de Gaia (January 2019 to the present), and member of the scientific board of the Journal Acta Médica of the CHVNGE (since 2010). The number of his publications is 31 and he took part in several clinical investigation studies; like Clinical Trial GDP-01-01, or Sustain 2 Trial, and Teddy Study Therapeutics in Diabetic Patients) – Portuguese Society of Diabetology, and Enjoy Life Without Stroke study – Coimbra Medical School and Instituto de Higiene e Medicina Social
