The next IFCC webinar: "Increasing visibility of Laboratory Medicine through scientific communication and social media" will be held on December 21, 2023.
Social media platforms like Twitter(X), Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn provide an opportunity for Laboratory Medicine professionals to reach a wider audience, including patients, healthcare professionals, and the general public. It is a possibility to share educational materials, research findings, case studies, and practical insights to raise awareness about the important role of Laboratory Medicine in patient care and public health. By using scientific communication at social media, professionals can counter misinformation, address misconceptions, and promote accurate information. Actively participating in discussions, responding to queries, and sharing reliable resources helps establish them as trusted sources of information. Shared knowledge of laboratory professionals can improve patients’ access to healthcare information. Using social media analytics, it is possible to measure the impact, refine strategies, and tailor content to target specific audiences. Moreover, social media content is a tool which can be used to enhance professional networking and education, organizational promotion and public health programs. The goal is to disseminate accurate and engaging information, foster collaborations, counter misinformation, and enhance public understanding of Laboratory Medicine's contributions to healthcare and public health. This webinar is going to give an answer how and why to use wisely and prudently social media as a Laboratory Medicine professional.
