The activities and functions of the Society are regulated by the Constitution of the HSLM. Its strategic priorities and duties are outlined in the Society’s Strategic Plan, which is developed and approved by the Executive Board.
The Society is led by the President, who is elected every three years by the General Assembly. The Executive Board consists of 11 additional members: the Secretary, the Treasurer, the Past President, the President-Elect, five Members-at-Large, and the chairs of two Standing Committees (the Protection of Interests and Ethics Committee, and the Publications and Communication Committee). All Executive Board members hold voting rights in the governance of the HSLM
The Executive Board meets at least three times a year. These meetings may also be attended by non-voting delegates, including the Chair of the Supervisory Committee and up to seven additional invited individuals.
In addition to the three Standing Committees, the HSLM also establishes ad hoc committees as needed to support specific tasks or initiatives.
