On 15 June 2022 from 15:15 to 17:15 CEST, EKHA will host its annual event, the European Kidney Forum, in the European Parliament in Brussels, in a hybrid format. This year’s theme will focus on: The Decade of the Kidney™: 10 years to bring innovative and green treatments to kidney patients in Europe. The event will be followed by a networking reception from 17:30 to 19:00 CEST in the European Parliament to celebrate EKHA’s 15th anniversary.
This event is organised as part of the Decade of the Kidney’, an EKHA-led campaign which aims to put the spotlight on kidney disease at EU level within the next ten years. The discussions will focus on identifying the challenges with current kidney disease treatments (dialysis and transplantation) from a patient, society and environmental perspective, and exploring ways to ramp up innovation. We will gather insights from European patients, policy makers, healthcare professionals and scientists but will also look at inspiring examples and success stories from the United-States with US policy makers and patients.

Course description:
This course is modular in structure and highly interactive. Short, evidence-based lectures cover the key information required. Moderated case discussions in small groups will expand on each topic and help participants to develop decision-making skills in small group discussion and surgical management skills in the anatomical specimen lab. Participants will have the opportunity to share their experiences with peers and international faculty. All factors related to achieving the best possible outcomes in complex and revision arthroplasty will be covered.
Goal of the course:
The AO Recon Course—Complex Total Hip and Knee Arthroplasty teaches current concepts in the treatment of patients with a need for revision or complex primary arthroplasty in the hip and knee.
Target participants:
This course is targeted at certified, experienced orthopedic surgeons who wish to enhance their knowledge and skills in complex arthroplasty.
Course objectives
At the end of the event, the participants will be able to:
- Describe a systematic clinical, laboratory, and radiographic evaluation in revision and complex primary arthroplasty
- Optimize preoperative planning
- Adopt a patient-centered approach
- Optimize patients preoperatively to reduce complications
- Describe and discuss safe and effective procedures for revision and complex primary arthroplasty
- Discuss the management of early and late problems or complications
- Communicate and facilitate a multidisciplinary team-based approach
- Apply best practices to optimize and document patient outcome

We want to get your attention to the Austrian Symposium on Dialysis Access and Central Venous Catheters which will take place for the 5th time in Vienna 5th-6th of December 2025.
It is an interdisciplinary, multiprofessional meeting where all dialysis-relevant stakeholders (nephrology, shunt surgery, dialysis care, radiology, patients, industry) meet. It is therefore an unprecedented opportunity to get to know state of the art treatment/diagnostic methods as well as innovations on this field.
After all 4 previous symposia were very well received with over 200 participants each, we have decided to continue organizing this meeting. This year, we also decided to open the symposium to more neighboring countries besides Germany, Italy and Switzerland to give more colleagues the opportunity to be part of this meeting as a multiprofessional access platform with excellent international speakers and many training programs. This is one of the very few meetings worldwide offering such masterclasses.

The proven concept of the 2-day conference will be retained: The scientific sessions with lectures by world-renowned experts will take place on the first day (05.12.2025) at the Hotel DoubleTree by Hilton Vienna Schönbrunn. On the second day of the congress (December 6, 2025), we will offer several master classes/“hands-on” workshops on various topics, which will take place either in the congress hotel or at the Anatomical Institute of the Medical University of Vienna, as these are courses on human specimens.
To be in Vienna during the Advent season will be even more special due to our venue location next to Schönbrunn allowing visits at the beautiful Christmas market before or after the meeting.
Please be aware that most of the talks on the 1st day are in German (see program), but the workshops and masterclasses are mainly independent of language - based on their training/hands-on character and our international tutors.
Slots are limited on both days and will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
